Our working approach is typically based around the following models:
Software Projects
We have a strong track-record of creating whole software teams based at our offices that act as a software project team within the client organisation. These are often Java-based projects which include a highly secure, technical back-end element
Design Thinking & UX
We work with organisations much earlier in the lifecycle and have scoped out and designed software products and systems from the earliest of business or marketing requirements and have practical experience of implementing the Design Thinking approach
Rapid Prototyping
We have a team that specialises in architecture design and prototyping and that works with clients in cutting edge technologies to accelerate high-tech innovation. Particularly in the areas of modern software architectures, Cloud migration, Event Streaming and AI
Research & Development
We have a good track record of participating in R&D projects, often with industry and/or academic partners. We can also help put together industry-academic consortiums and advise on or lead grant and challenge funding applications
Engineering Services Case Studies
We can provide more information about some of our Engineering Services projects and engagements including the following:
Software Project:
Crossword created a software team for CyberOwl and built the first versions of their software product, Medulla, for over two years before handing the work over to CyberOwl’s in-house team.

Crossword created a dedicated development team for ByzGen that designed and built a new Blockchain based software system, Falkor, before handing over to their in-house team after more than two years.
Research & Development:
Our team worked with Liverpool John Moores University on a UKRI grant-funded research project into supply-chain systems.
